Devotion to Our Lady of Blissful Demise dates back to the 15^th century at St Nicholas' church. The statue of the sitting virgin was done at this time. It is the oldest statue of the Virgin kept in a Tournai parish, St Nicholas having escaped the iconoclasts' looting in 1566.
